South Vancouver is a very ethnically diverse population. There is Fraser Street which is a flavour mix of the Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, Persian, European stores. Sunset is a mix of commerce and retail – it is being revitalized. An updated Sunset Park was opened late 2018 with community garden, dog park, nursery, amphitheatre, open areas next to the modern looking sunset community centre. Main includes the Punjabi Market around 49th as well as other East Indian markets.
South Van has roots of a working class neighbourhood mostly of single family bungalows and vancouver specials. Most are standard vancouver special lots but there are sprinkles of double lots. With the popularity of the area for raising families, there are also low-rise condos and apartments in the area.
South Van is about community. Plenty of hidden gems in this area. From the parks to the walkable areas for local ethnic restaurants, to the available community centres, to the views of the river and mountains. Its a moderately busy area where you will find kids biking along treelined streets and people out walking, exercising in the park, or out for a bite or drink.

Festival near Punjabi market
South Vancouver has lots to offer young and old. Although it is a quiet family area, it is centrally located to allow 5 minute access to Richmond and 15 minutes to Downtown Vancouver. There are also a lot of local amenities like River District, Main st. and Fraser st. markets, and Langara and Fraserview golf courses.
