Maillardville is a historic francophone community(largest in Metro Vancouver). Nestled in SW Coquitlam, there are extensive commercial and residential areas. The Official Community Plan – Maillardville Neighbourhood Plan (revised 2014) includes housing for multi-family including Detached Multiplex, Attached multiplex, fee simple rowhouse, and coach house. Maillardville is well developed and has lots of entertainment, arts, education, playgrounds, parks, and forms a cornerstone hub for activity in Coquitlam and surrounding cities – eg. the popular multiplex Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam Theatres and Zone Bowling.
Maillardville is well connected because its accessible location makes commutes to New Westminster, Burnaby, Vancouver, Richmond quite easy. Locally, there are terrific places to play, shop, and eat. Schoolhouse St. has shopping areas with some big chain stores like Staples, Superstore, Canadian Tire. South of Lougheed has IKEA, Bed Bath Beyond, Automotive malls. United Blvd further south is furniture warehouse central where people from all over vancouver visit. Maillardville is also a bit of a music and dance hub with Place des Arts’ popular programs. For preschool and elementary kids, Mr. I’s musical rainbow is a formative music program that runs at Place des Art.
Adapting to growth, some Condo towers are being planned with 21 storey Mont Bleu being the first. The area has a number of urban parks and areas for activity. There is Eagleguest Golf, Mackin Park with tennis, baseball, splash park. There is also Climb Base5 indoor climbing. And what about a meal after all that activity? There are great choices for some eats. Nearby North Road has many restaurants including a number of Korean restaurants, WhiteSpot, sushi, Vietnamese, and Italian gelato. Along Lougheed Hwy, there are many restaurants ranging from Joey’s Coquitlam, Insadong, Dairy Queen, Boston Pizza, Sammy Js and more. Along Brunette Ave, you can find That place Italian, 1st Ave seafood, smoking pig ramen and more.
